We may not really think about it that much but a lot of technologies thought to be reserved for the rich and
high tech facilities are crawling their way into the lives of many families in their homes. Home Intercom systems
would make a very good example for this and though they have the impression that it’s use is only geared towards
the rich and fabulous who lives in mansions so large that they need to use it to summon up their servants, it’s
actually far from it as it becomes a necessity for larger homes and bigger families. Consider the fact that it can
be quite a chore for example to round up everyone just to relay a brief message to the family.
A Home intercom system makes it a lot more convenient to have a quick word with anyone in the
house. Thus no more hollering at the kids to get up for school or summon a family member from across the house just
to ask them a question or two. All you need to do is buzz through the nearest intercom system and that’s all there
is to it.
Aside from the convenience it offers, a home intercom system would also prove itself valuable in securing our
homes. This is certainly true in the case of disasters and emergencies such as earthquakes and fire. The ability to
instantly communicate with family members during such emergencies is absolutely critical. It would also allow you
to ask individuals who are knocking on your doors to identify themselves before letting them in. How many times
have you heard of tragedies befalling families over the news simply by answering the door and letting the wrong
people in? You can further reinforce this with a video function so that you can visually confirm whoever is at the
other side of that door.

There are currently two types in home intercom systems available on the market today. One is the wired ones
which are relatively inexpensive but takes a lot of effort to install and put on line. They also look rather messy
with all those wires and require more work in order to make the whole setup look clean and neat. The fact that it’s
also more difficult to troubleshoot and repair doesn’t help either. However, it does have one advantage and it is
the fact that it is immune to wireless interference or dead spots in case there’s a lot of other families in your
community who are extensively using it.
Wireless home intercom systems on the other hand have the advantage of easy installation and wire free use.
They’re convenient to repair and troubleshoot in case of technical issues. Your average wireless home intercom
system do have a limited range in which to correspond with one another thus you may need to strategically place
each intercom unit within the range of one another. Although there are more expensive units out there which works
at greater ranges, as much as 1,000 feet from one another by working with radio links and are basically weather
proof.
As mentioned earlier, there is a home intercom system that features a video
function and can be wired to play your favorite music or perhaps tune in to your favorite radio station. This
eliminates the need to carry your mp3 or radio device around if you wish to indulge yourself with your favorite
music all day. One other useful functions of a home intercom system, especially one with a video system is to
monitor a newborn if you have a new baby in the house. It is absolutely important that you be able to ensure that
your baby remains safe and that you can come to his aid whenever needed. The same thing can also be said with kids
as they can be relatively playful.
